      Most of us think about ABCs in terms of reading and writing. This class, guided by Melt Pilates and Yoga owner, personal trainer and yoga instructor Shannon Tampa, will focus on Abs, Biceps and Core. Support your child’s social emotional success by ensuring they stay healthy, challenged and engaged during this quality family time! Dr. Felix Casados, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, will help you develop management skills, learn reduction techniques and rules for fair fighting. You will also learn strategies to reduce tension at home and at school and how to diffuse conflict and reduce anger expression in your children.     New from our Nurse

    Our school won a spot in a public health program that provides free smart thermometers to everyone that wants to participate! This program and these thermometers will help us track and prevent the spread of contagious illness in classrooms this flu season.     A few years ago, we began implementing a child sexual abuse prevention program in our schools as the result of the passage of Public Act 097-1147, also known as Erin’s Law.  This law expanded upon previous legislation and required child sexual abuse prevention education for child beginning in pre-kindergarten and continuing through all grade levels.  Our students will be participating in lessons in their classrooms in October. Please contact us at 630-736-3500 with any specific questions.

    Multicultural Parent Advisory Council 

    Please join us for our first meeting on Tuesday, September 17th  from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Professional Learning Center at 524 East Schaumburg Road. Our topic for this month’s meeting is “ACCESS and MAP: What do they tell me about my child’s learning?” Childcare is available for children ages 3-5. To RSVP, fill out the form at the bottom of the event flyer and send it back to your child’s school by Sept. 12.     The Department of Language and Culture is excited to be offering free English as a Second Language classes to parents and community members at Hanover Highlands this fall. The class will be head on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 PM, from September 11th to October 30th.

    Run to Read 

    District 54 is hosting its annual Run to Read, which will be held on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019 at Dirksen Elementary School in Schaumburg. The day includes school mascot races at 7:30 a.m., 100-yard and 400-yard dashes for children at 8 a.m., a 5K run at 9 a.m. and a 1-mile family walk at 9:15 a.m. Although you can register at any time, even the morning of the race, you will save $5 and be guaranteed a t-shirt in the size you requested if you register by Friday August 30. The Run to Read is an awesome opportunity to promote healthy living by encouraging your children to exercise, or even better, by joining them on the walk or run. The event also supports our goal of collecting 1,000 children’s books for every classroom in District 54. To register, visit sd54.org/runtoread.

    Principal’s Message September 6, 2019

    Hello Anne Fox Community,

    We had a great week at school.  Fall MAP tests are complete and the students are getting comfortable with their routines.  We are ready for our best school year yet!  Please read below for the latest updates.

    Parking Lot Reminders

    ·         The parking lot is closed in the morning from 8:20-8:40 and again in the afternoon from 2:55-3:10

    ·         Due to the limited number of parking spots for staff we ask that parents refrain from parking in the lot during these times.

    ·         To ensure our bus riders are safe we ask that there are no moving cars in the parking lot when the lot is closed.

    ·         Parents picking up their children at dismissal need to utilize the sidewalks.  We cannot have anyone walking through the parking lot.

    ·         Fox staff will be enforcing these guidelines before and after school.

    PBIS Update

    This month students will be working to demonstrate the first Cool Tool of the year: Respect! This Cool Tool encourages students to be respectful of others, their classroom, and their school. We discuss what being respectful looks like during different parts of the day to help us learn.

    Schaumburg Parent University-September classes

     

    Schaumburg Parent University (SPU) is designed to involve more parents in the life of the school, to strengthen family relationships, and to improve parenting skills that will ultimately result in improved student success academically, socially and emotionally. There are two evening programs scheduled for September. Please note that childcare is always available and interpreters are available upon request.

     

    Understanding College and How to Plan Early: 6-7:30 p.m. on Sept. 12

    Learn how planning early can help you maximize your options for college. Harper College representatives will discuss the various types of colleges and degrees, how to make college affordable and what a college education will mean for your child. Presentation in English and Spanish. Adults only.

     

    Fostering Healthy & Productive Parent-Child Communication:  5:30-7 p.m. on Sept. 30

    This interactive seminar, led by Dr. Nirmeen Rajani, Clinical Psychologist at Psychology Center Schaumburg, will teach parents and children/adolescents effective parent-child communication strategies. Ages 10-17 and parents welcome.

    La Universidad Schaumburg para Padres – Clases de septiembre

    Many thanks to everyone who has participated in our September Jet’s Pizza Days.  If you haven’t had a chance to submit the form yet, please do so by Tuesday, September 3rd.   All Jet’s Pizza profits will support our school PBIS programs.  Thank you for your support.

    Fees Reminder

    You can pay your students fees through your parent portal account.  This includes your $50 consumable fee, optional instructional device insurance (grades 3-8 only), and milk.

    If you believe your student will qualify for the Free Lunch Program and therefore will qualify for a fee waiver, do not pay the consumable material fee at this time. Applications for the Free Lunch Program are available online and in the school office.

    The consumable fee will increase by $15 if payment is not received by November 15th, $25 if not received by February 1st, and $35 if not received by April 1st.

    If you would like to purchase instructional device insurance but do not have the option to do so through your portal, please contact our school office for assistance.  Instructional device insurance must be purchased before the date of device issuance.

     

    Support the Foundation at Septemberfest

    The District 54 Education Foundation is raising funds for District 54 students over Labor Day weekend at Schaumburg’s Septemberfest. You can support the Foundation by parking your car for $5 at Collins School, 407 S. Summit Drive, Schaumburg, on Saturday and Sunday, August 31 and September 1. Summit is located between Roselle and Plum Grove roads. The Foundation is also participating in Not-for-Profit Day on Monday, Sept. 2, at Septemberfest. Purchase food from our partner, Riccardo’s Ristorante, and the profits will support District 54 students.

    The Foundation is committed to ensuring that all District 54 students have the same opportunities by funding breakfast programs for students from financially struggling families to ensure that they begin their day ready to learn, and grants to students from financially struggling families so that they may participate in extracurricular activities.

    District 54 is hosting its annual Run to Read, which will be held on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019 at Dirksen Elementary School in Schaumburg. The day includes school mascot races at 7:30 a.m., 100-yard and 400-yard dashes for children at 8 a.m., a 5K run at 9 a.m. and a 1-mile family walk at 9:15 a.m. Although you can register at any time, even the morning of the race, you will save $5 and be guaranteed a t-shirt in the size you requested if you register by Friday August 30. The Run to Read is an awesome opportunity to promote healthy living by encouraging your children to exercise, or even better, by joining them on the walk or run. The event also supports our goal of collecting 1,000 children’s books for every classroom in District 54. To register, visit sd54.org/runtoread.

    Schaumburg Parent University (SPU) is designed to involve more parents in the life of the school, to strengthen family relationships, and to improve parenting skills that will ultimately result in improved student success academically, socially and emotionally.     Learn how planning early can help you maximize your options for college. Harper College representatives will discuss the various types of colleges and degrees, how to make college affordable and what a college education will mean for your child.     Fostering Healthy & Productive Parent-Child Communication:  5:30-7 p.m. on Sept. 30

    This interactive seminar, led by Dr. Nirmeen Rajani, Clinical Psychologist at Psychology Center Schaumburg, will teach parents and children/adolescents effective parent-child communication strategies. Ages 10-17 and parents welcome.

    Principal’s Message August 23, 2019

    Hello Anne Fox Community,

    We have had a wonderful start to the school year here at Fox.  We love the fresh energy and excitement that a new school year brings.  Thanks for helping your child get into a good routine this week, as we know how important it is to have a balanced schedule.

    We are looking forward to welcoming our kindergarten students on their first day of school this coming Monday, August 26.  All kindergarteners will line up on the black top with their teacher prior to entering the school.  Arrival times is at 8:25, with the tardy bell ringing at 8:40AM.  Similar to every Monday, students will be dismissed at 3:00PM.

     

    Welcome Anne Fox Kindergarteners!

    Kindergarten parents,  please join the PTA in the library for a few minutes after drop off on the 1st day of Kindergarten for a “BooHoo/Yahoo”  breakfast.  We will have donuts and will be able to answer any questions you may have about the Fox PTA, volunteering during the school year and the various activities the PTA Sponsors during the school year.  We will also have volunteer sign up sheets and membership sign up.  Membership is $6 and includes a Fox School Calendar and car decal.  We hope to see you there!

    Attendance

    Remember to call our attendance line at 630-736-3500 by 9:00am each day your student will be absent.  Be sure to include your child’s name, teacher, classroom number, and reason for the absence.  Students who are not called in absent will be marked as unexcused.  Please make every effort to schedule vacations and medical appointments around the school calendar.

    Fees Reminder

    You can pay your students fees through your parent portal account.  This includes your $50 consumable fee, optional instructional device insurance (grades 3-8 only), and milk.

     

    If you believe your student will qualify for the Free Lunch Program and therefore will qualify for a fee waiver, do not pay the consumable material fee at this time. Applications for the Free Lunch Program are available online and in the school office.

     

    The consumable fee will increase by $15 if payment is not received by November 15th, $25 if not received by February 1st, and $35 if not received by April 1st.

     

    If you would like to purchase instructional device insurance but do not have the option to do so through your portal, please contact our school office for assistance.  Instructional device insurance must be purchased before the date of device issuance.

    Hello Anne Fox Community,

    Our Back to School Night event was an incredible kickoff to the year ahead. Thank you to the many families who attended classroom presentations, greeted your child’s new teacher, and learned more about the wonderful school year ahead. The anticipation is building for our first day of school tomorrow! Here are a few reminders that will make the first day a success.

    First Day of School for 1st – 6th grade/All instructional classrooms – August 19
    When students arrive on Monday, they will line up on the blacktop at 8:25 using the line with homeroom number. Teachers will be holding signs indicating their name, grade level, and classroom number. Parents are welcome to join us on the front sidewalk to clap our students into the building for our Tunnel of Hope! Students will be dismissed at 3:00.

    We are excited to welcome our Kindergarteners to Anne Fox School! You can look forward to making new friends, learning new skills, and developing a love for school. The first day of school for kindergarten students is Monday, August 26.

    Principal’s Message August 10, 2019

    Hello Anne Fox Community,

    We hope you are enjoying the last few days of summer.  Much of the information below is the same as last week, but as you prepare for the start of a new school year these updates and reminders will help us get off to a great beginning!

    Class Assignments

    Teacher assignments should have been received. If you do not get a letter be sure you have turned in your residency documents to the office.

    Assistant Principal

    We would like to welcome Priscilla Buchanan as our new full-time assistant principal.  Priscilla comes to us from within District 54 where she spent six years as a classroom teacher and seven years as a district literacy coach.  She is excited to be part of the Fox family!

    Registration

    Please make sure you have registered your child for the 2019-2020 school year to ensure your child is on a class roster. Registration requires all students to prove residency.  Students who are not registered will not be assigned to a classroom.  If you rent, please bring in current lease and two current utility bills.  If you own your home, please bring in current property tax bill or current mortgage statement along with two current utility bills.  If you will be registering your child for kindergarten, the child’s birth certificate or passport will also be required.

    Office Hours

    The Anne Fox office is now open from 7:30AM-4:00PM.

    Reminder for Sixth Grade Parents

    Mailed home in January was a packet regarding health requirements for entry into sixth grade. A current physical examination (dated 8-15-18 or later) is required for all students entering sixth grade. These students must show proof of receiving 1 dose of Tdap, 3 hepatitis B vaccines, 2 doses of varicella vaccines and 1 dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine.  Please have the sixth grade physical examination form completed by the physician and documentation showing proof of required vaccines. Please turn this document into the nurse by the first day of school. Sixth grade students will be excluded from school if this requirement is not met.

    School Supply Lists

    Stores are ready with school supplies! If you need a copy of the supply list, please visit our website (resource section) at https://fox.sd54.org/ . If you are having difficulty getting supplies, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher for support.

    Curriculum Night

    Welcome Back/Curriculum night will be on August 15th from 6:00-7:30.

    Hello Fox Families!  We would like to extend a warm and friendly Fox welcome to you all and we look forward to a great 2019-2020 school year! We hope you had a wonderful summer with your family and friends and we look forward to hearing about your adventures.  Our Fox staff is already busy planning and ‘Setting the Stage for Success’ for the new school year!  We are excited for the arrival of our students!

    Classroom Placement Letters/Registration/Residency

    If you need to drop off an updated lease or residency documents, please stop by the office as soon as possible.  Classroom placement letters were mailed out to all families the week of August 5th.  We are unable to place your student in a classroom until these documents are received.  If you have any questions regarding registration or residency, please give our secretaries a call at 630-736-3500.   Please visit our district website at https://sd54.org/resources/registration/  to see a list of documents required for registration.
