Principal’s Message October 25, 2019

1st graders working hard during the literacy acceleration block.

Dear Anne Fox Community,

We’d like to take this opportunity to tell you about an important time of the school day for our students. This time is called Literacy Acceleration and every student, kindergarten through sixth grade, has an additional 30 minutes of literacy instruction each day. During this time students are working on skills and strategies to deepen their understanding of texts as well as given many opportunities to write and respond to reading in creative ways. When you have a chance, ask your child about what THEY are learning in literacy acceleration. You will undoubtedly be amazed to hear about the high levels of learning taking place.

STEM Challenge-What Can You Do With a PUMPKIN?

Get your pumpkin ready for the Anne Fox Pumpkin Party! Bring your creation to school on Monday, October 28th and we will display them for all to see.  Will your creation be painted, carved or built into something magnificent?  We can’t wait to find out!

National PTA Reflections Program

Calling all students ~ Start Your Art! The National PTA Reflections Program is here for the 2019-2020 school year. Students are invited to get creative with this year’s theme “Look Within”. The deadline to submit projects is Friday, November 1, 2019. Information was sent home with your student and can also be found on the attached flyer.

PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Systems)

The Cool Tool for the month of November is Ownership. This Cool Tool focuses on taking ownership of our learning and how we act at school! This means, everyone is responsible for their work and their actions. Taking ownership will help each of us learn, grow, and feel comfortable at school.

Halloween Costumes

Halloween is approaching and we wanted to share the school guidelines as you begin to plan out costumes for this special day.  Attached is a letter that outlines parade and party details as well as costume expectations. Please read this important information to best support your child.
