Congratulations to the District Champions!

Fox School’s Winning 3rd-4th Grade Battle of the Books Team

Both of Fox School’s Battle of the Books teams won their play-off Battles at Campanelli School on April 20th and advanced to the District Championship, which was held in the District Board room on Monday, April 30th.

Our 5th & 6th Grade team made a tremendous effort in a hard-fought battle with five other schools.  Just a few points separated each of the top three teams, with final scores averaging above 95% correct.  At the end of the Battle, Fox placed third.  Our congratulations go to the team from Hale School, who placed second, and to Muir Literacy Academy’s team, who are the reigning District Champions.

The 3rd & 4th Grade competition proved to be very exciting, with Fox and Hale ending regular competition tied for first place!  We then entered the tie-breaker round, which again ended in a tied score–a new outcome in Battle of the Books competition.  Since there was only one trophy, Hale’s principal, Brian Lawson, flipped a coin to see who would take home the trophy that night and who would receive a second trophy at a later date.  Hale won the coin toss, but Fox will be getting its own  impressive trophy very soon.

The BOB sponsors, Mrs. Jesuit, Mrs. Hellstrom, and Mrs. Mackh, would like to give our sincere congratulations to all of our Battle of the Books team members, and a special round of applause to our competition team.  We are SO PROUD OF YOU!!!

Academic Achievement Award

Posted Thursday, February 9th, 2012 by Mrs. Peacock

Anne Fox was recognized for receiving the Academic Achievement Award from the Illinois State Board of Education.  The Illinois Honor Roll celebrates the accomplishments of Illinois public schools that are providing high quality education for all their students.  To receive this award, a school must meet the following criteria:

  • Made Adequate Yearly Progress in 2010 and 2011 as required by the No Child Left Behind Act.
  • 90 percent of students must have met or exceeded state standards in both reading and mathematics for the three most recent school years.

Illinois State Superintendent, Chris Koch, presented the award to our school.  Our Student Council President and Vice President joined Mrs. Beaulieu, Mrs. Brantner and buidling administration to accept this award on behalf of our school.

This is the second year Anne Fox has received this award. Twelve other District 54 schools were recognized as well.  On behalf of Schaumburg School District 54 and the entire Anne Fox community, thank you to our students, staff and families for supporting our students.  It is through commitment and hard work that we receive these acknowledgements.

The Wizard of Oz

Posted Wednesday, November 9th, 2011 by Mrs. Mackh

A special version of The Wizard of Oz will be performed at Anne Fox School on April 17 and 18, 2012.  We are looking for students who would like to be part of the show!

There will be 28 different speaking parts available, and different clubs for singing, dancing, painting, costumes, and publicity.  That means that A LOT of people can be involved!

An information packet was sent home with all students today.  Children who want to audition for a speaking part should read the information about the expectations, responsibilities, and auditions and return the permission slip to Mrs. Hellstrom by Wednesday December 1st.

Students who return the permission slip will receive an audition packet to help them prepare for their auditions.  These auditions will be held on Tuesday December 6th.

Clubs will begin in January for students who are interested in singing, dancing, painting, or helping with publicity.  More information about these clubs will be sent home with all students in December.

This musical is a first-ever experience for all of us at Anne Fox School, and we are VERY excited to share this with our students and their families.

District 54 Food Pantry

Posted Monday, November 7th, 2011 by Mrs. Peacock

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you of a great opportunity to support the District 54 Food Pantry.  As you may know, the students and staff of Collins School have partnered with the Elk Grove and Hoffman Estates Rotaries and other District 54 schools to create a food pantry to be hosted at Mead Junior High School that will provide food to District 54 families in need.

The Food Pantry was chosen to participate in a “5% Day” at the Whole Food Store located at 750 N. Martingale Road in Schaumburg.  Five percent of total net sales on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, will be donated to the Food Pantry.  Mead staff memebers along with local Rotarians will be present from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Whole Foods to answer any questions and to promote the Food Pantry.  However, the store is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

I hope you will take advantage of this great opportnity and support our efforts to serve District 54.

Conferences October 6 and 7, 2011

Posted Wednesday, September 28th, 2011 by Mrs. Mackh

Anne Fox School’s fall student-led conferences will be held on Oct. 6 and 7. This is a great opportunity for your children to share their accomplishments with you. These conferences are designed to focus on the child and the child’s goals and accomplishments. The children enjoy sharing their world with their parents.

If you have not yet returned a signed conference invitation to your child’s teacher, please contact the teacher as soon as possible.  A complete list of teacher email addresses and phone numbers is located at the top of this page: click on the “About” tab for the drop-down menu and then click on “Staff Directory” to access that information.

On Thursday, October 6, Fox students will be dismissed at 11:40 a.m.  No early childhood or kindergarten classes will meet on Thursday, Oct. 6, and no District 54 students at any grade level will attend school on Friday, Oct. 7.

We will be having a Book Fair in our school Library beginning on Monday, Oct. 3 and running through the end of conferences on Thursday Oct. 6.  Students will have the opportunity to visit the Book Fair with their class during the week, and the Book Fair will be open for parents from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 6.  It will close for the week by 8:30 p.m. and will not be open on Friday.

We look forward to seeing all of our school families at our semi-annual conferences and welcome the chance to discuss your child’s progress, goals, and achievements with you.
